Byungkook Lim, PhD, is Professor of Neurobiology at the University of California, San Diego. He received his Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology with a specialization in Neuroscience from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University and UC Berkeley. Dr. Lim is an award-winning neuroscientist whose work has been recognized by numerous prestigious honors, including the Daniel X. Freedman Award for Exceptional Basic Research, the NIH Biobehavioral Research Awards for Innovative New Scientists (BRAINS), the Kavli Innovator Award, and an NSF EAGER Award. His research focuses on the neural circuit basis of motivation, social behavior, depression, addiction, and Parkinson’s disease, with particular expertise in basal ganglia circuitry, dopamine signaling, optogenetics, electrophysiology, and in vivo imaging.
