Presented by
Julie Haas, Ph.D., Professor
Lehigh University
Department of Biological Sciences
Dr. Julie Haas is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Lehigh University. She earned her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Boston University, followed by postdoctoral work at U. C. San Diego and Harvard University. Her work has been funded by the Brain and Behavior Foundation, the Whitehall Foundation, NSF and NIH. Dr. Haas’s research investigates the relationships between electrical synapse strength, activity and synchrony in neuronal circuits that include coupled neurons, and how the brain’s attention to the sensory surround is controlled by electrically coupled neurons in the thalamus
