Investigating swallow pattern generation and respiratory circuit dynamics across healthy and pathological states
Presented by Dr. Alyssa Huff, Assistant Research Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology, The George Washington University
Dr. Alyssa Huff is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine with a secondary appointment in Pharmacology and Physiology. Her lab bridges neuroscience and physiology, focusing on the swallow pattern generation and its integration with breathing. She utilizes genetic mouse models—across both healthy and diseased states, and in anesthetized as well as awake, alert conditions—to identify the neuronal populations and cell types responsible for airway‑protective behaviors.
